February 23, 2010-The Cleveland Cavaliers finally ended their three game losing streak tonight with a 105-95 win over the New Orleans Hornets. LeBron James had a solid all around
game with 22 points and he dished out 13 assists.
The New Orleans Hornets rookies Daren Collison and Marcus Thornton had great games as well. They combined to score 59 points with Thornton scoring 37 and Collison had 22 and 10 assists. David West
added 17 ponts for the Hornets.
The Hornets are still without their super star point guard Chris Paul and Collison has played great in Paul's absence. He isn't playing like a rookie that's for sure.
I tell you what, the 2009 NBA Draft has produced some exciting young players like Daren Collison and Marcus Thornton. Other rookie players from that draft that are producing for their teams are Sacramento Kings Tyreke Evans,
Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City Thunders James Harden, Denver Nuggets Ty Lawson, Milwakuee Bucks Brandon Jennings, Sacramento Kings Omri Casspi and San Antonio Spurs DeJuan Blair. And the Los Angeles
Clippers #1 pick Blake Griffin hasn't even played a game yet. If this rookie class keeps this up, they could rival the 2003 NBA Draft that produced LeBron, Carmelo, Chris Bosh and Wade.
Tonight's game was closer than the score indicated as the Hornets kept fighting and actually had the lead late in the game. That's when LeBron hit a big three pointer. Cavs Antawn Jamison had a good game with 18 points and
Shaquille O'Neal scored 20 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
The good news for the Hornets is that Chris Paul is due to come back soon. And they will have a really nice 1-2 punch at the point guard position with Paul and Collison. They almost won this game tonight. So close.
